At a time when music was losing its luster and remixes were infamous, came a man who changed it all. DJ Suketu.

A Times Music discovery way back in 2001, he has churned out some of the most successful and loved remixes of all time. His skills were honed by 4 times UK Champion and 2 times World Champion DJ Cut Master Swift at the DMC headquarters in Burnham. He went on to win the DMC in 1999.

He released his first album ‘440 Volts’ in 2002. His single ‘Pyaar Zindagi Hai’ entered the charts at No.1 and parked itself there for 8 weeks. He followed it up with ‘Bin Tere Sanam’ from his widely successful party anthem. ‘Bin Tere Sanam’ was an overnight sensation. It debuted at No.1 on the Indi-Pop charts and stayed there for 20 weeks! It was one of the most frequently played tracks in nightclubs all over India and can be rightfully called the remix of the decade. Later that year, the track was recognized as the highest selling remix in the history in Indian music.

DJ Suketu has worked with many composers on numerous projects. Amongst them are Pritam, Adnan and Shankar Ehsaan Loy. He collaborated with composer and singer Atif Aslam in 2005 to recreate ‘Who Lamhe’ a song from the movie Zeher. The recreation became a sensation; an anthem of sorts. ‘Who Lamhe’ wasn’t just the biggest remix of the year, it remains timeless and an eternal favorite of millions. 2004 was a double whammy year for Suketu with the release of ‘Kya Khoob Lagti Ho’ – another chartbuster. Along with fame and fan following came the respect and adulation of the music industry. He was awarded by HMV Saregama and Vishesh Films for making the highest selling Bollywood Film Remix and the MTV IMMIES 2005 in the Best Remix/Pop Music Category.

After the success of Woh Lamhe, DJ Suketu has worked with Vishesh Films on almost all of their films, assuring them of a stellar soundtrack. His recreations of songs in Kalyug and Awarapan became a rage. ‘Adat’ from Kalyug was once again the highest selling remix of 2005. With his 3 remixed tracks from the film Awarapan, namely ‘Toh Phir Aao’, ‘Tera Mera Rishta’ and ‘Mahiya’, Suketu set a new standard of excellence. All tracks became super hits and were well received by the industry

Last year, ‘Bandya Ho’ remixed by Suketu from the international award winning film Khuda Ke Liye (In The Name Of God) became a big hit all over the world. DJ Suketu also remixed songs for classical maestros like Rahul Shiv Kumar Sharma and Richard Clayderman called ‘The Chase’ from the album ‘Confluence 2’. DJ Suketu had the honor of remixing a track by world renowned sarangi player and composer Ustad Sultan Khan. The song was called ‘Maula’ from the album ‘Gurus In Collaboration’. He also won the Desi Hits competition to remix Sean Kingston’s ‘Beautiful Girl’ desi version, ‘Bollywood Girls’. He will work with Sean on his next album.

Suketu brought in the 2009 with style with remixes from the film ‘Raaz-2’. With ‘Oh Janaa’ and ‘Maahi’ he introduced a new, contemporary sound. He was felicitated along with Madhur Bhandarkar, Priyanka Chopra and Akshay Kumar by the Lions Club of India for his excellence in the field of DJ’ing. He has also been awarded by the Zee Network.

Once again DJ Suketu is out with a Bonus Remix on the sound-track of ‘Aa Dekhe Zara’ featuring Neil Nitin Mukesh, another big hit of 2009.

With music to play with, the process is just as intoxicating as the outcome. DJ Suketu is constantly exploring every facet of it everyday. He makes sure we live, love, dance and truly appreciate every kind of sound. Making music timeless.
